Job Description

Duties:

 

  • Evaluate invention disclosures to determine marketability and commercial viability via OTL's Commercialization Roadmap;

     

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for technologies including the fostering of start-up companies;

     

  • Draft non-confidential summaries of the Institute?s intellectual property;

     

  • Monitor compliance of licenses and other types of agreements;

     

  • Create and maintain internal database of industry contacts;

     

  • Initiate and foster relationships with potential licensees, local technology organizations, and liaise with appropriate departmental staff;

     

  • Provide advice on intellectual property in sponsored research contracts and for other matters on campus; and

     

  • Draft and negotiate certain licenses and other types of agreements.
  • Job Requirements

    Education: A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. A Master's Degree in Engineering or Physical Science is preferred. An advanced degree in Business or Law is highly desirable.

     

    Experience: Two to three years work related experience. Previous university experience in technology licensing desirable. Candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work efficiently with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work closely with university faculty and staff, other departments on campus, research sponsors, industry representatives and patent attorneys.
